"Warning for little ears, Janice and Jay are getting married today and we all know how they love profanities so, if this bothers you, close your ears now!" When a celebrant starts a ceremony with this line, you know you're in for a wild ride.

Their love story is hilarious and began at work in June 2015. Jay sneakily gave Janice his number by pretending it was work related but, Janice was onto him straight away.  Jay remembers his first encounter with Janice like this: “We first met at work but she knew who I was before I even walked into the office. She couldn't wait to meet me- so I was told. I thought Janice was young looking, she seemed quiet, reserved with a nerdy cuteness to her and she had an interesting dress style.  Once we properly met I could tell we had the same old fashioned morals.  It started slowly and turned into what it is now.” Janice remembers her first encounter with Jay like this: “Jay was in love with me before he even met me, it was love at first sight for him.”

We adored their story so much, we sat down with Janice to get all the juicy gossip.

What was your first impression of one another when you first met?

We met at work and honestly, it was love at first sight for Jay, says Janice.

Why did you choose your reception and ceremony location?

We went to Lindenderry in 2021 for a long weekend away on our original wedding date after we had to postpone our original New Zealand wedding due

to the pandemic. We thought this was a great place for a wedding and it ended up being our wedding venue!

What was the most important element for you to have in your wedding?

FUN! We didn’t want it to be a long formal affair, we wanted our guests and us to have fun and treat it like a big party after a hard 2 years in Melbourne. We partied, had a champagne tower, had a photo-booth and danced the night away.

How did you choose what to wear?

I’ve always loved Anna Campbell dresses. I knew they would have the perfect dress for me. I wanted Jay to have a tailor made suit as he is quite tall and we wanted

something special. We found the Bespoke Corner and it was everything we hoped for – the fabrics and details were amazing.

Tell me all about the proposal?

WelI, I only had one condition – NOT IN PUBLIC! Jay took me to one of our favourite restaurants for a dinner and after

dinner he tried to get down on one knee in the restaurant with a table of 6 next to us! Luckily he got blocked in by two waiters and wasn’t

able to go through with it so, I made him re-do the proposal outside near our favourite park.

What style helped to shape your reception and where did you get your

inspiration?

We both LOVE the colour burgundy so we made sure that was incorporated into our wedding theme. We were also going to have our wedding in 2021

in New Zealand in the Redwood forest so it was going to be lots of greenery, wood-themed but pops of dark red, blush colours so we

continued that theme at Lindenderry! It worked really well, everyone loved our colour palette.

How did you choose your suppliers? Who were the stand out suppliers on the day?

Online! Lots of researching and review reading. We fell in love with Poppy Culture and Nicole from Peninsula Cake Art. They both really executed our vision to

perfection. And of course our celebrant, Charis White! She’s hilarious and completely 'got us', which is what we wanted – someone who understood our story and made

our ceremony funny and unique.

Why did you decide to marry?

I’m big on tradition! Marriage before kids… And I couldn’t see anyone else I’d spend the rest of my life with. To travel the world and enjoy

everything with.

What was an absolute stand out on your wedding day?

The champagne tower was fun! Loved pouring it but, geez it took forever to fill up.

What advice would you offer to future couples?

Relax and remember to eat and have fun on the day. A wedding shouldn’t be stressful!

What supplier did you book first and why?

The venue of course. We needed to cater around that. They also had some recommendations for suppliers which helped us along the way.

Is there anything you would change about your wedding day?

Nothing at all.

What was the most stressful part of the wedding planning process?

Organising everything all over again after organising everything the first time for an overseas wedding! I could be a wedding planner

now.

Did you both equally plan the wedding together or did one person have more input?

Definitely me because I’m a control freak but, I definitely gave Jay some tasks to do... don’t worry about that!

Did anything go wrong on the day of your wedding?

The flower girls didn’t get any flowers to scatter down the aisle! They were tucked away and we couldn’t find them anywhere before they walked down.

Other than that everything was perfect.
