How did you meet:

Luke and Meg met while studying a Bachelor of Music in Melbourne at Kindred Studios, although initially they did meet at a different University Campus, Kindred is where things started to heat up. At first, Meg was a little scared of Luke being so forward telling her that he liked her. Meg was frightened, so she initially rejected him in a state of panic. But that didn’t stop Luke here, no way! He pursued Meg for weeks before she agreed to go out with him. All of a sudden, Meg found herself wanting to talk to Luke more and was even calling him. The thought of not talking or seeing Luke dawned on her and she realised that she was falling for him. She’s now caught the love feelings, which scared her terribly.

Tell us about the beginning:

Every single person in our friend group was aware of Meg denying Luke a date, but teased him with her attention and affection. She would call and talk to him for hours and then give him the cold shoulder in person. Luke was not deterred chatting and sending messages, he was persistent, but not in a creepy way. A Jazz Party turned all that around. Luke said “I guess if you give someone a few of whiskeys and put them in a smoky club with loud Jazz, you can get them to break out of their box. This is the moment I think Meg gave in to her feelings towards me." This was the night of our very first pash! Luke says of the time. “I’m not delusional; I ain’t a great kisser” but that wasn’t going to stop me…as they were walking to a new venue I grabbed Meg and we pashed like no one was watching, in an ally way, on Little Lonsdale and Elizabeth Street. Since Luke did all the chasing, Meg asked Luke if he wanted to ‘go steady’ on the 22nd of September 2014 and he replied, ‘What’s that mean’?!’ It’s been nonstop evolving love ever since.

What attracted you to one another?

The beginning... Luke was so different to anyone that Meg had ever met before, nothing about him was superficial and he spent so much time getting to know her. Luke was attracted to Megs spark, when he saw her perform on stage… he said "wow she was something else." He can’t remember the song, but he certainly remembers the blue jersey dress, her long voluminous hair, bright piercing eyes and no fear to flaunt what she got. But those weren’t the main things that defined her spark, it was how she commanded the attention of everyone in the room. “Look at me, I’m Meg.” Some people never experience having or even seeing someone with a spark. She had it in buckets.

The Proposal:

Luke finally thought it was time to pop the question, after the last big covid lockdown and planned a surprise trip to Healesville. He booked an amazing Airbnb, restaurants, activities for the day and had spots picked out as possible locations to propose. Luke suggested a trip away “How about we go to Healesville, Meg?” “Nah, I hate Healesville.” Luke was crushed. Meg says: “How about Daylesford, Luke? I’ve never been.” Luke redid his very detailed itinerary, this time it was to Daylesford. The day before they were about to leave, Meg rolls over in bed with puppy dog eyes and asks: “Anything special happening this weekend, Luke?” Luke had to bust out his poker face. “Nope, he said.” There was a deep sigh from Meg.

Day one was filled with lots of fun activities. On day 2, they started with an amazing breakfast…and the day went on and on. On the day there were lots of possible proposals spots, none of them were good enough for Luke. After a serious chat from Meg asking if Luke will ever marry her. Luke runs straight into a big, thick orb weaver spider’s web, falling flat on his face. Meg said “Are you okay?” Luke said, "Meg KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED!” Lucky she did, when he told her to open her eyes, he was free of the web and kneeling before her with an open ring box. He lead in with, “Meg. I love you so much. Will you marry me?” The rest is history.

Why did you decide to marry?

Meg says: “I’m Marrying my best friend; I couldn’t imagine sharing my life with anyone else. I grew up watching lots of romantic movies and reading novels of happily ever afters’, and have dreamt that I would one day, have my own. Luke is my happily ever after.”

Luke is a wordy little fella, he says: “ I love Meg and I am ready to make a commitment that is visible not only to our loved ones but to people we may have not yet met. To show the world we are a permanent part of each other’s lives despite anything else that happens.” I look so forward to growing and being old with Meg. I will look into her eyes at a hundred and one, not have to say a word and know exactly what she’s thinking. I look forward to the journey there too, every little adventure adds another twinkle to her already sparkling eyes.
