This Harbour Bridge wedding was the perfect pinnacle for a love story that just gets bigger and better.

How did you meet? Is there any special story?

We met ten years ago, but lived eight hours away from each other in the UK. After long-distance dating for three years, we finally moved in with each other and, eventually quit our jobs and decided to travel Asia and Australia. We landed in Australia in 2019 and began a road-trip from Perth, travelling in our old postal van (named Priscilla). We saw many amazing sights, travelled well over 13,000-kilometres and met many new friends along the way. Once we arrived here in Australia, we felt that we'd found our home and could see a happy future.

Describe the style, theme and atmosphere of your wedding?

Small and intimate, non-traditional and a lot of fun! We started at the Sydney Harbour Bridge, then progressed onto fire dancers and drag queens at our reception.

Who was part of your wedding party?

With our friends overseas we chose our closest Australian friends to be part of our day, totalling only 12 guests it made the day really intimate and special.

Tell us about the proposal?

We decided on New Year’s Eve in 2020 that 2021 would be the year we get married. We did have to postpone our wedding not once, but three times due to Covid.

Tell us about the flowers you chose?

Our florist, Merchant & Green, were absolutely amazing, they did our bouquet, wedding reception flowers and boutonnieres for the grooms and guests. They completely understood what we wanted and delivered perfection! We went for a rustic and natural theme which complimented our green suits.

Tell me about the venues used?

We got married on the top of the Harbour Bridge, followed by a wedding breakfast at Park Hyatt and an after party at Chingalings on Oxford Street. The room for our reception at The Park Hyatt was overlooking the Sydney Harbour bridge, the atmosphere was jaw dropping. The afterparty was epic and we drank until late in the night. Upon the conclusion of our party we were presented with a trip to Daydream Island as a wedding gift fro our friends, we were blown away.

Did you DIY any details?

Our very good friend Todd, who owns 'Illustrahun', created the place settings for our guests, they were perfect and allowed the guests to keep something special and personalised from their day.

What was your favourite detail of the day?

Everything was perfect and we’re so grateful to all of the suppliers, however the after party really was the cherry on top. With a drag queen and fire dancer, it really was a party we’ll never forget.

What was your favourite photograph of the day?

Our photos are absolutely fantastic thanks to Anton at Across the Forest, we’re in love with them all. But our favourite has to be at the end of the ceremony with our guests gathered around us clapping and crying with us.

Did any vendor particularly stand out to you? What was your favourite part of wedding planning?

We loved the wedding planning process and we miss it! Across the Forest, our photographer really captured how special the day was. Anton was loved by all of our guests and floated around capturing images as if he was a member of the party. An absolute professional!

Any advice for future marrieds to be?

It’s your day, do it exactly how you want to! Be different and be bold! Enjoy the process! Do not settle for things that do not feel right. Only invite your nearest and dearest do not feel pressure to invite others out of guilt. Spend your hard earned money on the things you will cherish such as your rings, photos and suits.
